My Role

Bearfruit Jewelry

End to end UXI and UI Design

Bearfruit Jewelry is a jewelry company located in Southern California. Their goal is to empower self-expression through a variety of styles including minimalist, bohemian, and personalized jewelry.

 What is Bearfruit Jewelry?

Website before redesign

There were too many options in the menu to the point where the amount of information was overbearing, and the hero images text was not always legible due to the font and color.

The Problem

A consolidated menu and intentional and clear hero images will allow customers to better browse and purchase their jewelry.

The Solution

“ There are too many parts in the menu to the point where it almost seems pointless. What’s the point of all these options if each option only leads to 3 or 4 products? “

What’s the Purpose of the Website?

Identifying Problems of the Exisiting Website

When this product started, I talked to our developer and other employees to understand problems from their perspectives . I then conducted a usability testing with to identify further issues.

Checking out the Competition

While waiting for feedback from the internal team and other uses, I conducted a competitor analysis to focus on common trends, themes, and to weigh the overall pros and cons of their websites.

 Key Insights

After conducting research and auditing our competitors. These are the key problems that I found with the original Bearfruit website.

Evaluating the Information Architecture

To learn how people understood the existing information, I organized card sorting sessions with 6 users. I asked them to prioritize the most important parts of the Bearfruit website and then created my IA around that.

Final Design

While I can’t show you the different iterations and further research steps due to NDA, the final version of the website is visible in the link below.

Reflections

This was my first step into any sort of design and I think I did a fairly good job for my first attempt. I would have loved to iterate on the website design further, but I have changed companies since then.
